Water originating from the upstairs bathroom (4'9" × 8'0") saturated the ceiling drywall of the living room below and created a large pooling zone that blistered, stained, and ultimately split open — actively dripping onto the high-value knotty hardwood floors in the living room and dining area below. By the time H2O Restoration arrived, the homeowners had placed buckets and towels to catch the drip while the ceiling blister continued to hold an actively dangerous volume of water. The source was isolated, the ceiling was safely relieved of pressure, and moisture mapping confirmed saturation extending across the living room (18'5" × 14'5") and dining area (9'8" × 17'1"), with water reaching the hardwood floor surface directly beneath the burst point and spreading laterally with gravity.

Hardwood floor protection and drying — priority scope
The knotty hardwood floor was the highest-value asset at risk. Low-profile drying mats were deployed directly over the wet zone beneath the burst point. LGR dehumidifiers positioned to pull moisture from both the ceiling cavity above and the floor assembly below simultaneously. Daily moisture readings monitored for cupping, gapping, or finish damage throughout the drying cycle.

High-velocity air movers directed at the ceiling saturation zone across the living room and dining area. Drying equipment maintained until all ceiling readings reached dry standard per IICRC S500. The affected area was mapped daily to confirm the drying front was progressing consistently across the full blister zone.

Daily monitoring and insurance documentation
Moisture readings logged daily at all documented ceiling and floor locations. Before-and-after photo documentation, daily moisture maps, and a complete scope report submitted to the carrier. The hardwood floor drying scope and ceiling repair were confirmed covered under the claim.

Ceiling repair and final walkthrough
Once dry standard was confirmed throughout, the burst and blistered ceiling drywall was repaired, re-textured, and repainted to match the existing finish. Hardwood floors were confirmed free of cupping and finish damage. Final walkthrough completed with the homeowner before sign-off.
