Emergency response — on site within 59 minutes
Crew arrived to find standing water across the vinyl plank floor of the main basement and saturated carpet in the storage room next door. Moisture readings were taken throughout all three spaces. The even, wall-to-wall spread of water indicated foundation intrusion rather than a point source, and the clear, clean appearance confirmed a Category 1 classification.
Standing water extraction from vinyl and carpet
Truck-mounted and portable units extracted all standing water from the 35'7" × 24'1" vinyl plank area. A carpet wand extractor was used on the saturated storage room carpet to pull water from both the face and the pad below. The storage unit showing delamination damage was moved away from the wet zone, and the saturated area beneath it was fully extracted and photographed.
Contents damage assessment
The white cube storage unit in the storage room had water absorbed several inches up its particleboard base — visible as bubbling and separation of the laminate surface on the side panel. The damage was documented with close-up photographs and included in a separate contents damage report submitted to the insurance carrier alongside the structural claim.
Structural drying across all three spaces
Low-profile air movers were placed along the perimeter of the main basement floor to sustain airflow across the vinyl plank surface. LGR dehumidifiers managed humidity throughout the enclosed lower level. Concrete drying mats were used at the base of the foundation walls where infiltration was concentrated. The bathroom was included in the daily monitoring circuit.
Daily monitoring and insurance documentation
Moisture readings were logged across the vinyl plank, carpet, slab, and walls each day until all readings returned to dry standard. A moisture mapping report, before-and-after photo documentation, a contents damage assessment, and an adjuster-ready scope of work were submitted to the homeowner's carrier as a complete package.
