Source Confirmation & Water Category Assessment
On arrival, the team confirmed the overflow source at the child-sized toilet fixtures in the classroom bathrooms and classified the water as Category 2 (gray water from a toilet overflow). This classification immediately elevated the response protocol — requiring antimicrobial treatment of all affected surfaces before drying could begin, and requiring full documentation of the treatment steps for the facility operator's licensing and insurance records. The full spread path was mapped across all three floor plan zones to confirm the scope before equipment was deployed.
Antimicrobial Treatment — All Affected Surfaces
Prior to extraction and drying, all affected LVP flooring, baseboards, and bathroom surfaces throughout the full 4,112 sq ft were treated with EPA-registered antimicrobial solution using electrostatic spraying equipment to ensure complete surface coverage. This step was performed first, before drying, to prevent any microbial growth from establishing during the drying period. The antimicrobial treatment was documented with product information and application records for the facility's licensing file.
Full-Building Water Extraction — All Six Classrooms
Multiple wet-vac extraction units and portable extractors were deployed simultaneously across all six classrooms and the connecting hallway to maximize extraction speed and minimize drying time. Rugs and area mats were removed from the affected areas. Furniture and educational materials were moved as needed to allow full-floor access without disrupting wall displays, cubbies, or learning station setups — minimizing the workload on teaching staff when the facility reopened.
Structural Drying — LVP, Baseboards & Adjacent Walls
Air movers, LGR dehumidifiers, and supplemental box fans were positioned throughout each classroom to maintain high-velocity airflow across the LVP floor surface and at the baseboard-wall junction throughout the full building. Moisture readings were taken at multiple points in each classroom to confirm the LVP and subfloor were drying evenly. Because LVP is relatively moisture-resistant on its surface, particular attention was paid to confirming that moisture had not wicked beneath the flooring or into the wall bases.
Room-by-Room Clearance & Re-Occupancy Documentation
Each classroom was cleared individually using moisture meter readings to confirm dry standard before drying equipment was removed from that space. This allowed the facility to begin restoring individual classrooms as they were cleared, rather than waiting for the full building to reach dry standard simultaneously. A room-by-room clearance record was provided to the facility operator documenting the dry standard confirmation, antimicrobial treatment, and re-occupancy clearance for each space.
Complete Commercial Documentation Package
A full commercial documentation package was compiled for the facility operator and insurance carrier, including: the scope of work by room and floor plan zone, water category classification with source documentation, antimicrobial treatment records with product specifications and application method, moisture readings at extraction and final clearance for each space, before-and-after photography of all affected classrooms, and a room-by-room re-occupancy clearance record. This documentation supports both the insurance claim and the facility's required regulatory records.
